THE WOMAN BEHIND LUNATURA

Hi, I'm Lucía.

LuNatura was born from something deeply personal: my desire to simplify what my family and I put on our skin and return to ingredients that feel closer to nature.
What began as curiosity became a passion—learning about traditional ingredients, rendering tallow myself, infusing it with botanicals, and creating simple formulas with a purpose.
Today, I make LuNatura products in small batches, with the same care and attention I would want for my own family.

WHERE IT STARTED

Nature has always felt like home.

I was born and raised in Venezuela to Uruguayan parents, and some of my favorite childhood memories happened outdoors. My brother and I grew up exploring—camping in the Gran Sabana, visiting , Morrocoy, Mochima, Paria, Coro, los Llanos, and the Andes, and traveling through national parks with our family.
We were rarely the kind of family that stayed on the main road. We loved going a little farther, finding the less-traveled places, pitching a tent, and simply being surrounded by nature.
Even at home, much of our time was spent outside. Looking back, that sense of curiosity, adventure, and connection to nature has always been a part of who I am.

THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

A new chapter, the same love for exploring.

As I grew older, that love for exploring never really left. After Frank and I married, we moved to Spain, where we spent six years building our life together.
We explored whenever we could—taking small trips, riding our bikes, discovering new places, and finding reasons to be outside. Eventually, our journey brought us to the United States, where another chapter of our lives began.
Through all those changes, one thing remained constant: I’ve always been drawn to a life that feels active, curious, and connected to the world around me.

HOW LUNATURA BEGAN

It started with my daughter’s dry skin.

When my daughter, Emma, began spending long hours at the pool, I noticed her skin becoming increasingly dry. I wanted something that would deeply moisturize her skin, but I also wanted to feel comfortable with the ingredients I was putting on her.
I tried simpler, more natural products, but I struggled to find something that gave me the results I wanted without feeling overly oily—or becoming something I hesitated to use generously because of the price.
That curiosity led me to tallow.
I found a local source of grass-fed beef fat and taught myself how to render it. Then I started researching botanicals, oils, and traditional ingredients—filling pages with notes about their properties, how they could be used, and how to formulate with them carefully.
I experimented with batch after batch until I created a balm I loved for Emma’s skin. That formula became Serena, and she still uses it today.
What began as one mother trying to care for her daughter’s skin became a fascination with how much nature has to offer—and eventually, the beginning of LuNatura.
